Windows + Plesk Hosting Overview

Hoststack Team·5 min read

Most hosting runs on Linux, but some applications need a genuine Windows Server environment — Hoststack's Windows hosting plans pair Windows Server with the Plesk control panel to make that just as easy to manage.

When you actually need Windows hosting

  • Your application is built on ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, or classic ASP
  • You need a native MSSQL (Microsoft SQL Server) database
  • You're running commercial Windows-only software your business depends on
  • Your developer has explicitly built and tested for IIS (Internet Information Services)

If none of those apply — for example you're running WordPress, PHP or a standard MERN/Node app — Linux hosting with cPanel is usually cheaper and just as capable.

Why Plesk instead of a bare Windows Server

  • A familiar web-based dashboard for domains, mail, files, databases and SSL — no manual IIS configuration needed
  • One-click app installers and simple .NET application pool management
  • Free SSL, scheduled backups, and multi-domain support built in

What's included on Hoststack Windows plans

Windows shared hosting includes the Plesk panel, IIS, ASP.NET/ASP.NET Core support, MSSQL and MySQL databases, and Mumbai data center hosting for low latency to Indian users. Larger workloads can move to a Windows VPS for full root/administrator access and dedicated resources — see our Windows VPS overview for details.

Deploying your application

Upload your published build via the Plesk file manager or FTP, then configure the application pool's .NET version under Websites & Domains → Hosting Settings. Connection strings for MSSQL databases are available from the Databases section once you've created one.
